You’re going to hear and read a lot about Dwayne McDuffie in the next couple of days. Today, February 20, would have been his 51st birthday, and tomorrow, February 21, marks two years since he ascended towards the stars and the griots who came before him.
I miss the cat, and comics needs a guy like him today. Animation needs a guy like him today. We all need a guy like him today.
A creator. A genius. A dreamer.
An icon. An ideal. An inspiration
A collaborator. A colleague. An intellect.
A friend. A son. A husband.
The Maestro. Mr. McDuffie.
Dwayne.
I’d say a lot more, but I’m afraid I’d be repeating what I wrote here, here, and here.
So, I’ll just say happy birthday, Mr. McDuffie, and we still miss you.
